DeRuyter Board of Education Vacancy – Letters of Interest

The DeRuyter Central School District Board of Education is seeking interested District residents to be considered for appointment to a vacant seat on the Board of Education.

Individuals interested in serving are invited to submit a brief letter of interest that includes information about themselves and why they are interested in serving the DeRuyter Central School District community as a member of the Board of Education.

To be eligible to serve, an individual must be a qualified voter of the DeRuyter Central School District and have been a resident of the District for at least one year.

Letters of interest should be submitted to District Clerk Juanita Hayes at [email protected] no later than Friday, September 8, 2026.

The Board of Education will review the letters of interest and anticipates appointing an individual to fill the vacancy at its September 15, 2026 Board of Education meeting. The individual appointed will serve until the next annual School District Election on May 18, 2027.

DeRuyter - Not Just A Small Town

There's a saying that perfectly captures the essence of rural communities: "If you've seen one rural community... you've seen ONE rural community." DeRuyter is no exception, and we're excited to share what makes our school district and town truly extraordinary.

In collaboration with the community, the DeRuyter Central School District created this special video to showcase why DeRuyter is such a remarkable place to live, work, and raise a family.
